MONTH 5: Black and White: Week 1, "Walkathon"
I suddenly had a thought that I would like to concentrate on black and white this month. This week I only was able to photograph this Walkathon for research in pancreatic cancer. in Boca Raton, FL. This is a 5-hour event with lots of activities prior to the actual walk. I also photographed everyone as they crossed the finish line. So I spent all week going through and processing hundreds of photographs. So I didn't photograph anything else this week. I love photographing events like this. I feel like I am doing something very meaningful with my photography. This image is obviously the start of the walk. I stood in the middle, back a few yards, and fired off several clicks, then jumped over to the sidewalk when they got close and I had to get out of their way.. They knew that I was going to do this. Nikon D610 , 24-85mm lens at 58mm, F9, 1/800. There was plenty of nice contrasty light for black and white. I cropped a little bit off the bottom. A lot of people do this annual walkathon. This is the third year that I have photographed this event.
